The common characteristic of Karelian Republic
The Karelia Republic is located in the north-west of Russia and is the part of the North-West Federal region of the Russian Federation. Onega lake
Lake Onega is one of the largest of fresh water reservoirs of Europe – placed on the north – west of european part of Russia, on the territory of Karelia between St. Petersburg and Vologodsk regions. It is the second size lake in Europe after Ladozhskoe. Its area is about 10000km2, the middle depth – 30 metres, most – 120 metres. About 50 rivers flow into this lake and flow out one river – Svir. The Belomor – Baltic channel joins lake Onega and the White sea. On the shores of lake Onega are placed the towns – Petrozavodsk, Kondopoga and Medvejegorsk. hits: 551

The Ladoga
The Ladoga – is the largest fresh lake in Europe. Originally it was called Neva and Nevo. But because of this name characterized the main water-way of Saint Petersburg, the decision to rename it in the Ladoga was taken. Such large rivers as Svir, Vuoksa, Volkhov and many small rivers flows into Ladoga Lake. The only river, which flows out the Ladoga is the Neva. hits: 478
