The town Kolomna is situated at the confluence of the Oka and Moscow river, and placed on the south – east territory of Moscow region. Now Kolomna is not large industrial town, being the center of Near Moscow. On its territory are produced Diesel engine, Diesel – generator, main diesel locomotives, prefabricated ferroconcrete elements, cement and metal – cutting machines.
It is better to start an excursion from the centre of the town. On the territory of the Kremlin, placed on the high right bank, at the confluence of the Moscow river and Kolomenka there are several buildings, being worthy of notice. First of all, it is Marinkina tower. The silhouette of this construction one can see on kolomenskie souvenirs, numerous photos and pictures, people use it for great holidays. Before Marinkina tower, sometimes calling Kolomenskaya, was a guard tower, protected the land enter to the town from the direction of Moscow – Ryazan way. This tower is the highest from all constructions of Kolomna. Its height is 31 m, and diameter is about 13 m.
The history of this building consists of many years and connected with a legend.It is considered, that in troubled times the wife of Lier-Dmitriy II Marina Mnishek was in Kolomna about year. There is a legend, as if Marina was immured at Marinkina tower. As if after her death, her spirit often visited that place. Than a voevode from Kolomna and the bishop consecrated the tower by holy water, in oder to free Marina's spirit. According to another legend, there are kept many hided treasures. In 1903 year under the archeological digs, her body and treasure were not found.
Marinkina tower has 20 – verged construction, in spite of that this construction is seemed to be a round. Upper there are decorative hinged loophole. On eight floors there27 loopholes in staggered rows. By its proportions this tower reminds the other tower – Beklemisheva, placed in Moscow Kremlin.
Kolomensky Kremlin is circled by bricked wall, erected by order of Basil III in 1525-31 years. Before the Kremlin had 17 towers, four of them had the exit. With the time the Kremlin lost its strategic importance, as the result its walls and building were demolished by people on their needs. At the last time it managed to prohibit this destruction. Nevertheless, the result of such actions was that only six towers were kept, as concerns gates – only Pyatnizkie gate was kept.
In front of other tower- Granatova, were kept the buildings of Brusensky cloister,- the main notable of them was Uspenskay church, built in 1552 year in honour of Kazan conquest . The bricked cloister fence with numerous round towers. This tower was erected by project of outstanding architect M. F. Kazakov.
In the centre of the Kremlin there is Uspensky cathedral, again rebuilt in 1672-82 years on the place of demolished white stone building in time of Dmitriy Donskoy. On north is not big Voskresenskaya church. By the legend at that place were married Dmitriy Donsky and the princess Evdokia. The hipped ring tower imparts the finished appearance of kremlin ensemble, which is sided with Tikhvinsky cathedral.
If going from Pyatnizkie gate of the Kremlin, one can see on the way the church of Nikola Gostiniy. This construction is great changed due to numerous buildings. It was erected at the same time with building of Kremlin's walls in 1530years. Firstly, the temple had one head and blade finishing.
The modern construction was added by several heads. There is one more construction – Vozdvizhenskaya church in empire. Near this square building, coming to the second circle, is risen the noble house – the house of Lukovkin.
Beyond the bound of the Kremlin, going to the street Posadsky side street. This building was erected in XVII century, it is towered above near houses and underlined by five cupolas.
Its first appearance, this church got not long ago. This historic construction is seen along the streets Artilleristov and Pushkinskaya. At that place is the late estate of kolomna burgomaster I. Meschanin, built in baroque style, and house, named as surname of its last mistress. This construction belonged to the epoch of classicism. There is a street Oktyabrskaya revolution, named as Ryazanskoe highway, and before – Astrakhan high road. The 4 metres building towered above this highway. It is a ring tower of Ioann Bogoslov church. There is a Golutvin cloister, which was built in honour of killing revolted on local station Golutvin. This temple was created by Sergey Radonezhsky, unfortunately, the first appearance of this building couldn't kept. For example, the central construction – Bogoyavlensky cathedral -was rebuilt in XVIII century. The fragments of buildings of XIV century on can see on the wall of the refectory of Sergievskoy church, cloister fence with sharp-upper towers. On the opposite bank of Moscow river, is placed one more cloister – Bobrenev – in picturesque hill. According to one legend, this residence was created in 1381 year by hero of Kylikovskaya battle, tsar Dmitriy Volinzev nicknamed Bobrock. In XVIII century this cloister became the residence of Kolomna members of higher orders of clergy. That event was negative for architecture of local constructions, they were again rebuilt. Besides, in 1790 year appeared one more temple – the cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Christmas.
Later near that constructions appeared several buildings: were built secret and instant cases, appeared Fedorovskaya church in eclecticism style.
