At a distance of 90km from Moscow, on the high picturesque river's bank, is situated one of the ancient town – Klin.
For a long time were continued the disputes among historians and students of local lore, what year is considered the date of the town's creation – 1237 or 1317 year. Historian V. N. Tatishev contended that Klin is mentioned for the first time in manuscript in 1200 year. But this manuscript didn't come for us. The students of local lore asserted that the first mention of Klin was made by Nikon's manuscript in 1317 year.
There are many versions about the creation name of the town. These versions coincide with one – the name of the town is created by the name wedge - (in russian – klin)
Klin was the place of cruel battles between russian kings, and enemy's incursions. The town boarded with Moscow and Tver, which battled for Klin. After all fights the victory belonged to Moscow in 1482 year. Gradually the town became to loose its military strategic significance, being the centre of trade and handicraft.
Good and tragic moments in Klin's history are connected with the government of Ivan the Terrible.
At the beginning XVIII cent., when St. Petersburg was appeared, Klin was on the main way between two capitals, having a stimulus for economical growth. Under Catherine II government, the town got the official status and State Emblem (1781).
In XVIII-XIX cent. the industry was developed in Klin. And in 1851 year across Klin came the first in Russia railway.
Post revolution period and the first years of the soviet power are considered as the years of raising: the industry continued to develop, agriculture, and town accomplishment.
During the World War II Klin was almost destroyed : suffered as factories as houses.
Postwar and modern history of Klin is the history of worker-town.
Many famous writers, composers, scientists came to this town.
In the first years of revolution the american writer J. Rid went to Klin. In «Borosovo» village lived Vera Mukhina – is the soviet sculptor. In 1936-1941 years there worked the writer A. Gaydar. In 1989, where the writer had been living his last year, was opened a museum, devoted to A. Gaydar. In the museum are represented his own things, books, documents, photos.
There worked and lived D. I. Mendeleev in village «Boblovo», where was built the farm-house for his experiments. But unfortunately, this house couldn't kept for our days. At this farm was based the museum, where Mendeleev's own things are keeping, such as the collection of peasants life and the library of history russian physic-chemical society.
A famous russian poet A. Blokh lived in the village «Tarakanovo» in the farm «Schakhmatovo». P.I. Tchakovsky created in Klin his great works («Manfred», the opera «Cherevichki») bringing him the world fame. The composer was subdued such beautiful and picturesque places.
The house – museum by P. I. Tchakovsky is considered one of the famous memorial museums in Russia. It is the pride of russain culture.
The farmstead «Demjanovo» - is one of the cultural center in russian history, one of the ancient and beautiful places of Klin region. Right there were living and working the artist A. Vasnetsov, the scientist Timiryazev, the composer C.I. Taneev.
Architectural ensemble of Klin impossible to imagine without «Uspenskaya» church. It is the significance and interesting monument of Moscow.
There is the museum of local lore in Klin, which expositions tell us about the middle ages, the Patriotic War 1812, the World War II, the development of uyezd, the architectural look. There are a lot of exhibitions, which represent painting, applied art, the works of famous people.

It works daily, at 10.00 till 17.00, besides Monday and Tuesday.
