The decision to change the words and music of the earlier existing hymn arose
after the fall of the USSR. It is explained by the beginnings of the new
political regime, according to which the last realisms of the communist regime
don’t blend with the interpretation of the new politicy. The music by A.V.
Alexandrov, the words by S. Michalkov became the musical basis of the hymn. The
statute about the State hymn was asservated by the Decree of the President of
Russian Federation on the 30s of December 2000. The new hymn has the following
Rossiya — svyashchennaya nasha derzhava, Rossiya — lyubimaya nasha strana.
Moguchaya volya, velikaya slava — Tvoyo dostoyan’e na vse vremena!
Slav’sya, Otechestvo nashe svobodnoye, Bratskikh narodov soyuz
